Not sure if this warrants a new thread since we already have a recent one about auto-immunity, but then again there is already a lot of discussion there and people might not notice this if I put it there....

Defining Immune Tolerance in ANCA-associated Vasculitis (AAV)

The goal of the study is to find biological markers (certain proteins or cellular markers found in a blood test) that will inform doctors which AAV patients are most likely to be able to stop their medications suppressing their immune systems and remain in remission.

Sounds very interesting! I hope its succesfull and they find some good indications on when we can be taken off our meds

My consultant at Mayo who does a lot of Weg research is waiting for something like this before he considers recommending I try going off my maintenance meds or better yet if some one finds some thing that is promising as a cure. It looks like this study will be done in England so people in that vicinity might want to inquire about joining it.
