If you have a spare week or two, give this a try: Escape the room (http://www.ig.ns.ac.yu/fun.html). It's going to kill me but I'm determined to complete it!

It might kill me, too. I've found 4 items and something going on with the floor that I won't reveal.

I love the escape games. My faves are the Escape from the Attic/Basement/Living Room/Bathroom series. Not too hard, and very funny.

Hi Andrew

How do you get out the first room. I have found a test tube and a key behind the left panel which I can not access. There is a chair bolted to the floor infront of the door and a brief case I can not open.

Thanks
Derek :)

It takes hours to get out of there, literally.

Tips:

1. look under the chair
2. look behind the briefcase
3. look on the left of the da vinci painting
4. once you open the right panel, collect whatever you find there
5. the note under the chair tells you how to open the right panel

Sangye

(Test tube?)

I got the paper but can't figure out the instructions to opening the right panel. How do you use an object you've collected?

andrew
07-18-2009, 03:14 AM
Press and hold the button for the number of seconds indicated on the instructions from under the chair.

Sangye

D'oh! Of course!

Serbian???? Whew! No wonder you look, um, stressed in your new avatar, Andrew!:)

I discovered you can click on any object you've collected and use its frame to light up dark areas. Found more stuff.

RCOSSIO
07-19-2009, 08:27 AM
i collected six items so far...

RCOSSIO
07-19-2009, 08:36 AM
ok so you have a gold bar in a panel and if we know the weight of a gold bar is
1 troy ounce of gold = 31.1034768 grams = 1.09714 ounces

1 tael of gold = 50 grams = 1.76369 ounces

1 tola of gold = 10 grams = 0.352739 ounces

but i am still perplexed...hmmmm keep thinking

Sangye
07-19-2009, 09:14 AM
I discovered what to do with the gold bar. It came to me in the middle of the night, oddly enough. You're on the right track with considering its weight. But even using it for a certain purpose, I'm obviously missing something else to complete that task.

I have 8 items but have used at least 3 additional ones.

those games can be so addictive.i keep away from them because i know what will happen.

Sangye

I like the games that make you think. Some Escape games are just crazy hard--pretty impossible to figure out. I'm not sure about this one yet. I was just about to give up on it, and then this morning found a bunch of stuff.

Jack

For some reason, although I tend to sit in front of my computer for far too long, games have no attraction for me. I've tried quite a few, including those that my children play and they don't hold my attention for more than ten minutes.

RCOSSIO

Got frustrated and threw the Freakin Gold Bar at the panel which holds the keys to no avail.....thanks a lot Andrew!

Sangye
07-20-2009, 12:04 AM
Richard, have you found something wrong with the floor? It might help you figure out where to put the Freakin Gold Bar....

Sometimes throwing stuff actually works. In some games you have to "use" a hatchet or something on a wooden door to bust out. It's always very satisfying.

RCOSSIO
07-20-2009, 12:06 AM
not yet...hmmmmmm

RCOSSIO
07-20-2009, 12:22 AM
well i figure out what the key opened...still having trouble with floor...still blame Andrew...but at least I found seven items

Luce
07-20-2009, 12:28 AM
I've got past the gold bar issue and now have another item I don't know what to do with. I also have a code for the safe but it's either missing a couple of numbers or I'm not putting the code in correctly.
I've opened the briefcase but still not sure what to do with the two panels that contain keys.
I have 9 items, did have more but had to use some of them to get other ones working.

RCOSSIO
07-20-2009, 12:33 AM
got the floor board...maybe Andrew is hiding in there...so to pick on you Andrew...thanks!!! wracking my foggy brain.hahahahahah

Sangye
07-20-2009, 12:36 AM
I still can't figure out what to do after using the gold bar there, though.

Did you find all 3 batteries?

RCOSSIO
07-20-2009, 12:38 AM
not there yet...still trying to figure how Luce opening briefcase

Luce
07-20-2009, 12:42 AM
If you've found out what to use the key for, you should just be able to double click the top of the briefcase now.

Luce
07-20-2009, 12:43 AM
Sangye, look very closely at the gap in the floor board - might be something there you need to break.

Sangye
07-20-2009, 12:43 AM
I opened the briefcase, too. Did you see what's next to the colored box? I can't get it out. There's also something else in the briefcase I can't access.

I don't see keys in the panels. I have an old computer monitor, and I think sometimes it just doesn't show the stuff in dark areas very well.

Sangye
07-20-2009, 12:45 AM
Yeah, I see a little something, but haven't been able to figure out how to break it.

Luce
07-20-2009, 12:48 AM
Do you have the penknife?
You have to click the 'i' to get a pic of it and then you have a choice of tool to use by clicking on the pic.
Hope I'm not ruining this for anyone else!

Sangye
07-20-2009, 12:58 AM
Clever girl! Got the thing.....

Luce
07-20-2009, 01:00 AM
If I can get you both to where I am stuck, perhaps we can all work on the next bit!

Sangye
07-20-2009, 01:12 AM
Okay, but first I gotta go rest my brain. I think I broke something in it trying to get that stupid thing out of the floor!

Luce
07-20-2009, 01:15 AM
I'm too frustrated to carry on as well! My little EEE pc is close to being mashed by my fist...

I quit as well Sangye :(

07-29-2009, 05:30 AM
ah I leave for a vacation and what do I find. I am back home tomorrow. So far have 5 items in 20 min, got the gold on the floor and am stuck. Can't get the darned item out of the hole. Now for the entire 15 hour trip and flight back home `i will think of the game LOL

Luce
07-29-2009, 05:31 AM
Ok, not sure where everyone is now. The first key you collect fits into a gap on the side of the picture, where you found one of the batteries. This will then reveal a safe.
The batteries go into the laser pointer which projects most of the safe code but is missing two digits (either that of the X's are roman numerals and I'm not putting the code in correctly).
The gold bar goes on the floorboard which reveals a small string - cut this with the penknife and you will collect what I assume is a UV lamp.

Not sure how much this helps you all...

Sangye
07-29-2009, 05:59 AM
I only have 2 of the 3 batteries!

jola57
07-29-2009, 06:04 AM
No, can't be playing the game have 6 am flight tomorrow. I have only one battery and what penknife, have a message in a bottle too(isn't that a song?) I just can't help meself :))

Sangye

A message in a bottle? (Warning : I'm using Jedi Mind Tricks to lure you back into the game, Jolanta!)

Sangye
07-30-2009, 12:15 AM
That's right, Jolanta. I will use any tactics I have to in order to GET OUT OF THIS ROOM! :D

Luce
07-30-2009, 02:11 AM
Ok I don't have a message in a bottle :(

Yes Richard, a clue for the safe would be very helpful!

Battery locations are left side of picture, right side of chair on skirting board and behind the grill near the floor. You need to unscrew the grill to get behind it.

Jolanta - penknife is in the briefcase, if you have revealed the safe you should be able to double click the lid of the case.

Sangye
07-30-2009, 03:22 AM
Grill on the floor? What's that?

Luce
07-30-2009, 04:08 AM
Perhaps grate or air vent would be a better term - it's on the same wall as the two keypads but much lower on the wall.

RCOSSIO
07-30-2009, 08:37 AM
u know its 51L...are u turning the dial the right way?

RCOSSIO
07-30-2009, 08:38 AM
instead of grill...electric jack

Sangye
07-30-2009, 09:17 AM
Yeah, I had been trying to get that open all this time. I've used all the penknife tools-- which works?

Actually, last week I was so frustrated at not making any progress, I tried sticking the penknife in the electric plug holes, just to end it all....

Sangye
07-30-2009, 09:23 AM
Never mind... I don't know why it worked this time, but I got the stupid thing open. Well, considering that I'm having to be walked through this whole puzzle, I guess I shouldn't be calling it stupid....

Sangye
07-30-2009, 09:37 AM
Richard, how is it 51L? Doesn't XX=20?

RCOSSIO
07-30-2009, 10:14 AM

RCOSSIO
07-30-2009, 10:19 AM

Sangye
07-30-2009, 10:30 AM

Luce
07-30-2009, 07:15 PM

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 12:38 AM

RCOSSIO

Ya know, Florida is just one little plane ride away from Maryland. You keep that up and you might just meet a Weggie real soooon....

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 01:24 AM
funny u say that...I am probaly relocating to NYC or Seattle...I know 2 different cities..my wife is convinced with NYC...so maybe that's where we go. If I do land in NYC...we definitely need to meet...other than my uncle...I have not met another Weggie:)

Luce
07-31-2009, 02:25 AM
My bit of paper says XX=38

Richard you are taking us for a ride :D

I think the test tube was with the second keypad, I can't remember because I've had it so long now.

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 02:28 AM
no mine says xx=51...anyway use the laser light...and then use your numbers for XX on the light and walla...hopefully it opens safe

Luce
07-31-2009, 02:29 AM
Ok so I've opened the safe (thank you Richard for the wine bottle clue)

Now I have two more items, one of which I have no idea how to use.

Sangye
07-31-2009, 02:46 AM
I had the test tube all along. I thought it was a bullet.

My piece of paper says XX=22!!!

Luce
07-31-2009, 03:02 AM
Moved the chair - now what?

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 06:51 AM
i have not figured the codes that hold the keys for the box that's inside the briefcase....

Sangye
07-31-2009, 09:12 AM
Okay-- I think I've caught up with you two. I moved the chair.

What do you think about the color code thing on the top half of the briefcase? And right next to it, the papers with writing on them?

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 01:18 PM
I'm stuck...can't figure it out been looking at the color dice and use the "roygif" code as well...but still stuck.

RCOSSIO
07-31-2009, 01:19 PM
I mean 'roygib"

Sangye
07-31-2009, 11:22 PM
You mean "roygbiv?"

RCOSSIO
08-01-2009, 01:09 AM
Omg ur right...school days...hahaha....

Sangye
08-01-2009, 01:12 AM
The thing is, there's no orange light.

RCOSSIO
08-01-2009, 01:17 AM
I know...just trying to think outside the box.....hmmmmm...brain wreck!!!

Luce
08-01-2009, 03:04 AM
Sangye, what bunch of papers in the briefcase?
I took a manila envelope out when I first opened the case but I can't see any other papers.

Sangye
08-01-2009, 03:06 AM
You have to use the background light from any of the objects kind of like a flashlight. The manila envelope works well. When you roll the object frame over the dark area next to the cube, it shows two papers with writing.

Luce
08-01-2009, 03:10 AM
Oh sorry, I can see now but thought those and the coloured boxes were all part of one metal plaque on the case - rather than separate papers.

It would appear we need a magnifying glass...

Sangye
08-01-2009, 03:29 AM
Yeah, I thought the penlight would help, but it had another job. I wonder what that weird black light is for. It looks kinda like a blacklight.

RCOSSIO
08-01-2009, 10:24 PM
OK....SANGYE ARE YOU SURE YOUR MONITOR IS NOT PLAYING TRICKS... The manila enevelope does contain something but all it says is "Good Luck" Secondly, the briefcase lining has letter with colors...but it looks more like a sticker attached to the briefcase lining....'

I'll check again...hmmmm

Sangye
08-02-2009, 12:01 AM
My monitor stinks, but that usually means it doesn't show things. I haven't known it to fabricate things. YET.

So it's not the manila envelope itself, it's the image frame of that object. It'll work with any object. When you click on the object, it becomes your cursor. The square frame of the object picture lights things up. So it's the space around the envelope that you're using. I'm not explaining it well at all, but maybe you'll be able to decipher this!

When you do that, look just to the right of the cube with colors and letters. It's two white papers with writing on them-- same size as the cube next to it.

RCOSSIO
08-02-2009, 12:59 AM
Ohhh....i did see that...however, like luce said i need a magnifying glass.

Anyway..have you figured what to do with the radio..or monitor. Can't seem 2 fugure out its use...yet:(

Sangye
08-02-2009, 01:06 AM
Radio/monitor???

All I have is that black light thing. I think it was under the floorboard.

Luce
08-02-2009, 02:28 AM
The radio thing came out of the safe along with the socket wrench.

Doesn't seem to matter where you put the sliders the tune sounds the same and
I can't work out if there's a tape in there. There's an eject button and it clicks but I can't work out if there's anything to remove.

Sangye
08-02-2009, 03:50 AM
The radio thing came out of the safe along with the socket wrench.

Well, NOW it did. I really do need a new monitor. This thing is 10 yrs old.

Sangye
08-02-2009, 03:54 AM
When I move the slider, it changes the tune a little.

Luce
08-02-2009, 08:49 AM
Oh no, perhaps I need new speakers.... or new ears :(

Sangye
08-02-2009, 09:00 AM
Boy, we're all in pretty rough shape. No wonder we can't get out the stupid room. :D

Sangye
08-02-2009, 09:38 AM
Do you think the 4 letters on the color squares (in the briefcase) are musical notes that might somehow correspond to the radio tune? The radio makes 5 sounds and there are only 4 letters, but maybe it's a start?

andrew
08-02-2009, 12:17 PM
You can blame me and be content that I too am suffering in being unable to get out of the stupid @@^*@#*!) room!!

Sangye
08-02-2009, 12:31 PM
LOL-- I have moments where I hate the stupid room, and moments where it intrigues me. It's a nice diversion, especially playing in a group like this. Even if it makes me want to throw my shoes at my monitor....

Sangye
08-04-2009, 08:04 AM
I got nothing. I only know it changes its tones when you move the levers. Maybe it sends a tone and that will open something else? I've tried it on everything in the room.

RCOSSIO
08-04-2009, 11:38 AM

Sangye
08-04-2009, 11:37 PM
Yeah-- think, Richard, think!

Luce
08-05-2009, 03:01 AM
Well we can rule the following out:

- Shouting
- Stamping feet
- Threatening to pour water on to the motherboard of my machine
- Begging fiance to help even though he hates these things
- Getting the rabbit to take a look (she did suggest using the screw driver to take apart the radio but no luck there)

I'm all out - keep thinking Richard!

Sangye
08-05-2009, 07:06 AM
(Love the new bunny avatar, Luce!)

Well, I have one more suggestion for what your rabbit can do to The Room, though it may involve some manipulation of your monitor because of, um, physics....

Luce
08-06-2009, 02:53 AM
Thank you, I can't work out if it's Barley's stern face or if she's being inquisitive...

What would you like her to do? I have an ultra portable little netbook if that helps with the physics side of things.

Sangye
08-06-2009, 06:42 AM
Rabbit contribution + x + g = S

x = monitor displaying The Room
g = gravity
S = Sangye's opinion about The Room

Luce
08-06-2009, 06:47 AM
If I've calculated this equation correctly, either my monitor or the bunny may get slightly hurt and as Sangye is an animal lover I think the rabbit's safe but has ended up in The Room.
She's very good at nibbling cables...

Doug
08-06-2009, 07:58 AM
I have to agree- Barley has a wonderful new intenseness in this new avatar: "Why are you wasting time getting out of a box when you could be making me Queen of YouTube, Mom?!":) (Besides, this box business is for Japanese cats!):)

08-09-2009, 03:17 AM
OK guys, I am stuck, i have the code xx=48 and the light with the safe code. How do i combine them. Nothing works. I am working my way up to you.

Sangye
08-09-2009, 04:40 AM
For you, turn it 48R where the safe code says XXR.

It had been so many years since I'd used a combination lock, I had to google the instructions. I had forgotten that for the second number, you have to pass it and go all the way around. Maybe that's where you're getting stuck?

jola57
08-09-2009, 02:38 PM
Thanks Sangye, i knew how to move the combination but i didn't see it. just forgot to click on the safe again. all is good now and have all the items out. working on the roygbiv cube and cube lock.
By the way moving the equalizer about and clicking on the right arrow button make differnet noises. the other button I think records the sound.

Big trouble. While working on the game I got the dreaded blue screen of death - dumping files etc. after rebooting some kind of device loaded and from then on can't access the game. site loads but where the square with continue is, is not there. says click to activate the site but nothing happens. anyone has any clues? I tried rebooting, tried loading from firefox, going to site direct and from our link and no go. Help

08-09-2009, 06:08 PM
I did figure out the radio. Played with the buttons. Start moving with the first one and get a new tone than continue with the rest to get the same tone, to get the sound of the tone click the left play button, then click the right recod button. I opened it read the note ant crashed.

Luce
08-09-2009, 07:26 PM
Sounds like you might need to download Flash again, or possibly it's something to do with ActiveX controls... I'm not the best with these problems, sorry.

Jola, thanks for the clue on monitor,,,still can't open but will keep trying

Sangye
08-09-2009, 11:05 PM
I am a big coward. :o I'm not going to try the radio thing until someone else gets it to work and it doesn't crash their computer. My computer is old and has my office files on it (backed up, yes, but I just don't trust that). I wouldn't have any way of getting it fixed if it died. So I'm waiting it out.

I know what you mean, Jolanta, by moving the controls that way. I was trying the opposite--to move each one so that the tune would change. No wonder I'm stuck in The Room.

Hello babies, i am back in the game. found the little spy bot that prevented the flash on the game deactivated it and all is good now. I have been hard on it and i have 2 keys now. but the cube one gives me the hives. Ok so this is how it is. did the equalization for new tone and opened the radio, used pen knife and got magnet, magnetized tire iron, looked for holes, found them under the chair (click chair to get rid of it) put iron in got 4 batteries and put into the black light. OOOOh lots and lots of clues with this baby all over the place. any way shone on the cube and got the numbers went back to cube safe and tried to input numbers every which way but get the dreaded buzzer. I need key - want out of room - pay mega bucks - uhhhh - give apple? carrot? peanuts? Richard, are you anywhere near there, will share other tips (bribe) for help, or anyone?

08-12-2009, 06:49 AM
Ok, slide all to middle to start ,click on left play arrow and listen to tone, then starting with 1st slide up or down and listen for a different tone. Once that is done go on to the next slide and go up or down and listen for the same tone as the first one. Do this for all. Once all tones are the same click on the right record button.
Boy this was fun want some more.

Sangye
08-12-2009, 07:01 AM
Okay, I got the radio thing open. For each switch, you have to move it to make a new tone play. I'm off to finish the rest. I hope.

Jolanta, where did you find the tire iron thing? (Is it the socket wrench that we used to undo the chair bolts?) Is the magnet the little gold washer?

Sangye
08-12-2009, 07:33 AM
Okay, yes, the socket wrench is the right tool, but I can't figure out how to magnetize it. It fits in the floor holes, but doesn't grab anything, so clearly I haven't magnetized it.

Sangye
08-12-2009, 07:41 AM

jola57
08-12-2009, 09:02 AM
Amazing how it works. Here I am. Ok. To magnetize put the magnet onto the tire iron and leave it on. Go to the chair click on it and it slides right. put the iron into the holes and pick up the 4 batteries, then put them into the black light. Now the fun begins. Shine the lights on all the objects your have, all the walls, notes, walls just all over. have fun:D

True but most are done to bring some word about WG to a broader audience. Since I started doing them in mid-April, I have had three people contact me about WG information and support groups. One actually joined this forum. (Summer.) I don't know if the other two did, under different user names. The blog, while not totally WG-related, brought one inquiry asking if I'd like to have it bunched with other WG-related sites, to which I said yes. I don't see where that has happened. But I hope it does, and soon.:)

I'm afraid I've not had any time to practice my Houdini skills recently.
My Nan had a fall last Sunday and after initially believing she had had a stroke, the doctors now believe its a really severe case of shingles or herpes zoster.

So although it's been hard not to visit, I've stayed away for fear of catching something nasty. Instead I've been helping my parents with some of their chores while they spend time at the hospital.
She's been having a really hard time, not knowing who or where she was and not eating for weeks. She's also given us a few laughs by giving several false names and trying to take her clothes off at every opportunity!
I'm hoping someone can make a decision soon as to whether my Nan is no longer contagious so I can see for myself that she's doing ok.

One day I'll care enough to get out of the room...

Wise move. Speaking as someone who developed shingles in October 2007, was hospitalized in November 2007 for it, and still deal with
postherpetic neuralgia almost two years later, I tell you we weggies need to be especially neurotically careful about avoiding this disease. When the blisters crust over, is what the attached information from the Center For Disease Control advises is the point a patient isn't contagious. (The CDC is a US Government agency, for you weggies abroad and north, but a trustworthy one.)

When I had it, it seemed the crusting was gradual as it worked its way through the affected regions of my face, neck, and shoulder. One question you might ask: If the crusting comes off (cloth rubbing against it or- don't tell the nurses!- the patient picks at it because it itches or starts to loosen), is the patient contagious if the raw spot is goopy with serum? (I guess that's what it is.)

The CDC doesn't indicate the virus can be transmitted by air before the blisters erupt, as another source suggested. Were that true, we immuno-suppressed of the world wouldn't have a ice cube's chance in hell!

Thank you for your concern - we fear she has had it some weeks but she will never tell you anything is wrong. The rash is only across her torso and legs so we never saw any sign she was ill.
The doctors believe there is also a urine infection interfering but it can't be confirmed because she hasn't been asking for the bathroom...

Thank you for the information Doug, I instantly thought of your experience when the diagnosis came. One of the nurses told my Dad yesterday the blisters were starting to crust over. However as I have a clinic appt on Tues I will ask my consultant if he thinks the risk has reduced enough. Hopefully the blisters will have healed further by then.

I'll try to take it easy, but as we all work full time and my youngest sister is preparing to go to university I feel I have to do everything I can to help.

Not sure my Mum has recovered from having to clean her bathroom as she was found naked under the sink and in quite a state, and I think this will leave a nasty image in my parents' minds for some time.

On the plus side Mum and Dad persuaded her to eat last night and once she started she couldn't stop. She has also asked a couple of times if she is in hospital and has stopped offering to make cups of tea, so I think she's coming back to reality slowly.

Will try to keep you updated.

I hope your Nana gets better soon, it seems she is well on her way. About confusion - lately my Mom has been behaving strangley when she is overly tired. She starts to talk nonsense. The way she explains it it is as if she falls asleep instantly and talks because she dreams. She wakes up instantly when spoken to. I saw this happen once and her eyes are opened so I couldn't judge if she is in REM sleep. She doesn't talk during regular sleep.

Sangye
08-25-2009, 12:01 AM
Is she on any meds? If so, make sure the prescriptions are correct and that she's taking the right amount. Also, look in each bottle at all the pills to make sure they are the correct type. Someone in the Yahoo group received a prescription of pred with a number of pills of a narcotic accidentally added.

If meds aren't the problem, please get her to a doc-- she needs a thorough checkup.

Luce
08-25-2009, 02:26 AM
Ouch, narcotics instead of pred?

Actually doesn't seem so bad - at least you won't care anymore about the pred side effects if you take the narcotics!

Not much more news on Nan, she's gone backwards a little by being permanently tired and not willing to entertain Mum and Dad - she keeps watching the clock. I'm hoping it's just because she is tired and wants a nap, although I think she may have realised her situation and is now depressed.

Sangye
08-25-2009, 03:00 AM
Oh, so sad. But hopefully as the infection(s) clear, she'll get stronger and her spirits will improve, too. Untreated infection can actually cause erratic behavior, loss of memory, depression, etc.... A lot of people don't know that, and her docs might not have explained it.

We all can empathize with appreciating help but also feeling that it exhausts us. :)

Luce, any news on your Nana? Is she still in the hospital? How are your parents holding up?

Luce
09-08-2009, 04:57 AM
Thanks for asking Sangye, but there's not been a lot of change. She completed a course of antivirals but within two day the shingles had flared up on the other side of her torso, so is back on another 14 day course.
She is eating a little more but is also wearing Mum and Dad out a bit, she says she wants to come home so they tell her she needs to stop messing the bed and start eating properly so the nurses will think she is fit enough, but Nan doesn't want to know. All of a sudden she's very tired and wants them to go, and closes her eyes. Also Dad asked her who would look after if she was allowed to go home and she said "my husband" - Granddad's been dead for 7 years now and when Dad told her this she decided that he could look after her. This just isn't possible as we all work a full week and my youngest sister is only 18 so we can't afford to stop working and look after Nan full time!

Dad also noticed on her chart the word "Encephalitis" which as I understand it is an infection of the fluid around her brain. I can only hope this is causing the odd behaviour and will respond to treatment.

Mum and Dad are only visiting every couple of days now because she is not appreciative of the prescence and Dad can't cope with too many more "funny" stories from the nurses of how she threatened them to buy her cigarettes, how she ripped the plastic cover off her mattress and how she keeps continuing to undress through the corridors.

Quite exhausting!

Oh, I'm so sad to hear that. It's awful watching someone's mind not function properly. I wonder why the docs haven't discussed encephalitis with your parents. It may have just been listed as a possible diagnosis-- to try and explain her mental difficulties-- but not actually confirmed. They must be utterly exhausted. I hope you're doing okay health-wise with it, as well. It must be so hard on you.

I'm still feeling great thanks - Mum and Dad are managing better now they don't go to visit quite so often. This is obviously not going to resolve itself soon so they've settled into more of a routine.

Luce-

Shingles doesn't explain the behavior, but, until you experience the pain, you can't imagine how over-whelming it can be. The pressure of clothes, touch on the afflicted part can be like a red-hot poker, it's so intense.

I had shingles on my head. One pain session I had was in my sinus. It felt like a sneeze-tickle, followed by a searing, stabbing jolt of electricity so intense my eyes teared. That came about every 15 to 20 seconds for weeks. The only relief came from blowing my nose immediately after, which brought on a pain like scouring the afflicted sinus with a heated barbed wire brush! It is so wearing! Going "crazy", frankly, doesn't help (I know from trying it!), but screaming at the top of your lungs does.

Perhaps the encephalitis (or whatever issue) combined with the awful discomfort of shingles is what leads to the episodes of taking clothes off. Poor woman! To go through back-to-back episodes of shingles on top of it! Nothing I've experienced with WG matches the pain of shingles.

It may seem callous to people (who've not experienced this sort of life change) for your parents not to visit so often, but they truly need that separation for sanity's sake. There is, no doubt, a long road ahead of them, and they need to prepare. And people around them need to start to understand their situation and be there for support.

Oh Luce I am so sorry, I can see how upsetting that would be for your parents and for you. We can only hope that once the inflamation of the brain lessens she will be back to her old self.

Hi Jolanta

Unfortunately not - we've been told we need to start finding her a care home as she will no longer be able to look after herself.

Very sad for the whole family...

Luce,

So sorry about your situation. I just want to wish you well in the next very important decisions you will need to make. I hope all goes as smoothly as possible.

I am so sorry Luce, this must be a tough time for your family. I have already discussed with my Mom about her care in the event that she can't look after herself, I have also discussed same with my kids. As sad as this conversation is I wish more families talked before the time came for one of them to be put in a home. All the necessary decision and input would then be made by everybody and when the day came it would be done as pre-planned. It is such a personal decission, but from my own perpective I know that I would feel much better if my Mom was taken care by competent people 24/7, if I was working I would not be able to do this, and in my situation now I am taking care of my special needs, how could I care for her and myself when the time came? We all need security and dignity, for your parents and you it could become an unmanagable nightmare. My hart is with you.

I'm blaming Richard for telling me about this, I think it was him who mentioned it when I first joined and so I was a little tired and bored yesterday so thought I would check this 'Escape The Room' business...BIG MISTAKE!!

WHY did I go there, it just made me more frustrated, my back and arm were aching after sitting there hour upon upon hour and my brain, oh my poor brain!!

I am fighting the urge to go back there again, its been playing on my mind since yesterday :eek: NNNNOOOOOO

I never did get out of The Room. It was more stressful than this stupid disease! The other escape game I posted is nothing like that. You and the turkey can make it outta there in less than 10 minutes.

Richard, you seem to doubt my abilities as a woman, with or with WG and the mental fogginess that comes with that, I plan to use every possible means necessary to get out of that dam room:p (excuse the language)!

It has occurred to me, being stuck in a room on the web leaves me with only two solutions (delete game from my computer forever and walk away) or do what any modern person would do and 'google'...if i'm going to cheat may as well do it for free :D lol

I have Googled to get out of other Escape games. Some are just impossible to solve. I didn't Google for this one because we were playing as a group. (In fact, if you want clues, you can reread this whole thread) But I've always been tempted.

My Dear Weggies:

I am sitting here in my balcony watching the waves crashing against the shoreline as I drink my nice brew ice tea (wishing it was a nice cold beer) in this 80 degree So. Fla day.

and as was enjoying life outside of the room, I came to one simple conclusion. The reason you all are having difficulty in escaping is simple. When you have an administrator as a quack, a Brit as bunny, two dogs looking out toward Tibet from Maryland, an elephant, a loonie with an orange shirt and finally Batman's lover meowing with a glass of Champagne Dom Perignon...its no reason you guys can't escape...."YOU HAVE NO MOVABLE THUMBS" :D:D:D
