Yesterday I had an appt for my annual ENT. exam and I have been really dizzy and bad headaches and had a little earache. So I saw him and he checked out my nose and ears and said nothing is wrong as far as wegs goes there. But he did'nt like me being dizzy with headaches. So he got a copy of my lastest blood work and a mri scan I had on my head. Well the scan showed I had 1 cm white mass on the left side of my brain which none of my drs. but him were concerned about. (It's been there for a year ) So now I have an appt in 2 weeks to see a neuroglogist, then he said my calcium levels were high which I thought was good, thinking good for bones......wrong.....he's thinking I may have the beginning of renal failure !!!!!! WTF !!!!! Then he said he wants me to get my parathyroids checked and gave the name of 2 surgens. He had his secretary call my kidney dr. right away since my appt. isn't until Oct. and move it up sooner. Which I got a call from him today and told me to stop taking my Vit. D,and get blood work done. I now go see him Sept 6th. Oh ,I also have to go back to my ent to get a eng and a balance test done on Tuesday. What the hell..sorry..but I did not expect all of that. He really has put the fear of God in me especially with this renal failure thing.:scared:

Dear Debra,
It is too much, suddenly, so you are prob overwhelmed.
at least your doc "catch" things on time, so you can deal with them as soon as possible. It is sound that you are in good hands, and that everything that must be done - is done.
I'm sending you my prayings and my love and I'm waiting with you for good news.
take care and please update :hug2:

Having some trepidation is good actually, keeps us alert! But, as for doc, he's following a protocol for kidney problems...it may take longer than you want to get it taken care of. He's correct that high calcium suggests possibilities of which there are only lesser ones. Wife went thru the para thyroid and thyroid removal eventually. We were amazed at how much the thyroid affects in our bodies. Sooo, I suggest you get it done, get thru it...it doesn't sound WG, and it is fixable as you will hear soon from your ENT or whomever. Best of luck.

Well, the good part is it sounds like you have a good ent--hopefully your kidneys are OK & everything will check out well!!

Sounds like your ENT is paying attention. Hope all goes well and that any problems identified are easily fixable.

I agree with all of the above.... don't know a thing about the kidneys or parathyroids or any of that, but am glad your ENT was on the ball and alerted you to something that is not ENT related. I hope and pray that it will be nothing serious and not in fact any kind of renal failure.

Oh my, what a day you had, Debra. I'm glad the ENT caught that... I'll be hoping that your kindeys aren't failing and everything is okay.

I'm glad your ENT is on the ball Debra.

He could be a little bit over cautious and I'm not saying that is a bad thing, I'm just trying to help you to reduce some of your stress levels a little bit.
If the other specialists (the ones in the correct field of specialty) didn't seem to worry too much about the MRI, then possibly it is something they see all of the time and didn't think it was considerable for them, or you, to worry about.......and I hope it isn't anything to worry about.

I do hope that everything is within normal range when you have you next tests.

I have been having dizzy spells with headaches for a few weeks now and it was really worrying me but now I am really concerned. I have an ENT appt in sept. and will certainly ask about it. I'm glad you told me but I'm sorry that you have it

Well I went and got the results of my bloodwork back and everything is back to normal. I still have to go Tuesday for a balance check and eng, but I am so glad my kidneys are doing o.k.
Yea Barbara, definately have your ent check that out for you,it may just be my sinuses but he said that was all good. I'll have to see what the tests come back as and also still see a neurologist. My thyroid test came back fine. Also the last exam I had with my obgyn said I had no testostrone !! And gave me a prescription cream to rub on my leg but I don't do it.These docs are driving me crazy, the next one will be a psycritrist (sp)

Hi Debra, good news :smile1:
it is better to be "over" then "under" cautious.

I'm glad to hear nothing seems to be going on with your kidneys. I agree with Michelle, better to have an over-cautious ENT than an under-cautious one, and I'm impressed that he paid attention to something that might be outside his specialty.

Thanks everyone for your concern,I'm glad he is checking everything but he just put the fear of God into me all at once. The one good thing about getting my bloodwork done at the hosp, is that I go get the results the next day, so I don't have to wait around for them to get it and call me. I only had to worry for a day about my kidneys and parathyroid ( I don't even know what their function is ??!!) now for the balance test for my headaches and dizzyness and the neurologist. It's probably too much perozide !! It's alot of work being blonde when more grey keeps popping thru !!!!:biggrin1:
