Hi all, my name is Raj and was diagnosed with WG in April 09. I started a blog A new lease of Life! (http://www.rajwegener.blogspot.com)

Have been reading up discussions and it is just sad to so many people with WG and no cure. Getting used to my new life...

Currently on Cytoxan 133mg, Prednisone 35mg, Bactrim, Omeprazole, Fosamax.

Hi Raj, Welcome to the forum. You are in the early treatment stage of the disease. It seems you may have been lucky enough not to get too seriously ill before you were diagnosed. The treatments are often pretty successful and you may not end up as strong as you were, but will have a reasonable quality of life with some luck and good care. The people here can often give wonderful advice to help you on your journey. Good Luck, and welcome to a pretty funky group. Germaine

Hi Raj
Welcome sorry I had to greet you under these circumstances. Glad you are now under treatment. I have had WG for over 20 years and it has been a bit of a rollercoastser but I have got use to most of my symptoms.
But expect to be taken by suprise with unexpected flare ups. I am going through a flare up at the moment with symptoms I have never had before.

I have always been lucky in that I never had kidney or liver complications but this latest flare up has produced blood & urine results showing involvement in both.

So my advice for whats it's worth is learn as much as you can about WG and how it is affecting you and get a Doc that specialises in the condition.

Keep well

Derek:)

Welcome Raj, Hope you are responding well to the treatment. It may be an idea to keep a diary of syptoms and well being as you go along. This disease seems to affect people in so many different ways, you dont want anything, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time, to go unrecorded. That being said, dont get too introspective with the whole thing and try to enjoy each day for what it is!! Keep in touch.

I always seem to have problems making comments on blogs- I did yours!- so I'll just say I hope others on this site take the time to read your story. Once again, there is no "typical" path this miserable BFF takes. Raj's story is worth the time to read on his blog. Thanks for sharing, Raj! Welcome to the forum. :)

I love your blog, too, Raj. You can add the blog title to your signature on this forum, so that people like me can remember to go read it!

(Doug, did you enter the verification word to leave a comment? Sometimes I forget to do that and the comment doesn't go through of course)

Yay! Welcome back, Sangye! Also, you may be right on the reason I couldn't get the message to stick. I know I've been able to leave messages on your blog, so I must get it right ~ sometimes! :):):):) P.S. I hope more people will be inspired to try blogging. It's fun, it can help others, it's free to set up, and there are several places people can start.

For all of the nastiness of Prednisone, I guess we should be thankful for the benefits, too! Congratulations on having a good day! :):):)
