My handle may be a little bit deceiving. My Mother was tentatively diagnosed with this disease yesterday. Kidney biopsy later today. Mother has had all the symptoms, progressively for the last eighteen month. Eye problems, chronic cough and uti's. Liver issues and muscle aches. Did I mention muscle fatigue and joint pain. Well yesterday, her kidney specialist, finally pieced the diagnosis and the biopsy will confirm it later today. Hopefully with treatment, she will be on the road to recovery. Or better said remission.

Hi Son,
It good to get the diagnosis and get treatment up and running, pity your Mum has been messed around for 18 months, there really is not enough awareness of WG in the med.schools and that really needs to be address. Best wishes to her and hopes for a speedy remission.

Welcome MFS, you found the right place for your mom. Lots of info, compassion, understanding, and 'good ears' for listening. Ask lots of questions, vent when needed, make sure you have good docs (preferably WG experienced), and be patient and strong and assertive for your mom...WG is a nasty little troll. Best to you both.

Add mine to the list of welcomes, MFS, and I'm so sorry your mom is going through this. It isn't unusual to have lots of problems for a year or two before diagnosis. Evie is right that docs need to be way more on top of this. I hope you have a good one for your mom and know about the Vasculitis Foundation website with its list of WG specialists. Easy access to a specialist would depend a lot on where you live, and your doc can also consult with them for free if necessary. This forum is the best place for support and information about WG, so it is good you found it. Please keep us updated on your mom's treatment and progress. Best wishes to you and her.
