i had my first visit with ent dr and said i have a polyp, enlarged turbinates and deviated septum and he thought the
prednisilone and metho might of settled the wegeners but he didnt push a operation which we need a test to see if
its wegeners. i snore very loud which the op would fix. does it only be diagnsed with a path test

I don't have polyps, but the rest sounds like yours Janet, and they said there wasn't much they could do for it (or want to touch) until the Wegs was under control and the meds were stopped.
I did, however, have the sinus biopsy operation for confirmation of WG and it was a breeze. Didn't hurt, didn't have any problems afterwards.
Did you see one of the lovely ENT's at the Alfred or a private ENT?

I had a deviated septum, enlarged Eustachian tube, and snoring...the meds didn't stop my ENT, who was in consultation with my rheumy, from doing the operation. I seemed to get thru it fine.

janetJanet, usually a WG diagnosis requires 1) symptoms, 2) ANCA positive titer, and 3) pathology report from the biopsy. Even when the ANCA test is negative, the other two might be enough. But the gold standard involves a biopsy.
