Hello all, my dad is a new wegeners patient and also has patersons? Vasculitis. He is not tolerating Imuran and his dr doesn't seem interested in finding a drug he can tolerate. He could not tolerate the chemotherapy so had the 4 infusions of the arthritis drug I can't think what it was called. This is all new to us, he is near Sydney australia. I guess some guidance on what to do where to look would be appreciated. He is in chronic kidney failure as it was a delayed diagnosis so is on dialysis. Thanks I guess my questions will keep coming

Malissa--drug intolerance makes treatment difficult. I do not know what "Paterson's vasculitis is, but most vasculitides are treated in about the same way. Imuran (azathioprine) can be hard on digestive systems, and some people do not have the liver enzyme needed to process it. It these cases, the usual alternative is mycophenolate mofetil (CellCept). Another possibility for WG that does not respond is gusperimus (deoxispergualin).
