Hi all,

Woke up this morning and found that blood was covering about 1/3 of the white of my left eye.
Freaked out a bit and then looked it up on "Dr. Google". Looks like it is a burst blood vessel.
Rang Doc. and they said the same thing. Told me not to worry unless I had pain, dizziness or loss of vision. I have none of these but still worrying. Was told to come in if it gets worse, but that it should go away itself in a week or two.
Was only at Eye specialist last month. He did full exam and said that while there was signs of a small cataract in that eye there was nothing pressing or requiring immediate attention.
Has this happened to any of you?
Thanks for any feedback.

Had this once after cataract surgery. Surgeon said he hit a vessel when he injected some antibiotic or something after surgery. Really looked bad for awhile but did go away in 10 days. No pain, just worry.

I have bleeding in my right retina so of course I cannot see it. It is called Non-Ischemic Central Retinal Vein Occlusion. I have got 3 injections of Avastin in it but so far no improvement. I will probably get more injections.

Is this in the while of the eye, Yvonnea? If so, it is indeed less serious than, say, a hemorrhage in the retinal. And it will most likely go away on its own in a few days. However, it is also a possible indication of a flare (as it was with me). I recommend new labs, including an ANCA test, if such means much in your case (as it does in mine). As for the cataract: How much prednisone are you taking? Pred can move the cataract "schedule" up by several years, even decades. One of those side effects the often don't mention.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply. It is the white of the eye Al. And already today looks a little bit better. Feeling reassured that it is not a flare as bloods etc very good.
Hopefully will clear up very shortly, but it did scare the life out of me

Hi Yvonne, Since I was dx 1998 I have had many episodes of 'dracula' eyes and used to panic a bit as it looked so awful and I had some double vision with it too.
After many thorough checks with different opthalmologists over the years, and taking Wegener's into account, the conclusion seems to be, that when I get a little 'low', I get dry eyes/red eyes. I don't know where you live but, the opthalo here in UK gave me a product called Clinitas Soothe, which I find helps enormously.
I still get my eyes checked every year though - can't be too careful - but I no longer panic when I look in the mirror and see red eyes..... I just despair over the wrinkles ha ha!!:wink1:
