So I have been taking this mobic pill since last thursday and this morning I woke up and put on my pants and they dont fit at all. My eating habits have not changed one bit but I have gained more than 10 pounds since saturday-this is according to my pants and my scale. I dont want to take it. This cant be normal.

Leigh, you are correct, this doesn't sound normal at all.

With the meloxicam if there is sudden or unexplained weight gain you should seek medical advice asap.

I would stop taking it until you can speak to your doctor or at least give them or your WG specialist a call.
The weight gain didn't happen for me, in fact it didn't do much for me at all in regards to pain management.
Are you doing 7.5 or 15mg? I guess the answer to that doesn't really matter, the weight gain does.

Sorry to put a downer on things

15mg...I am shocked how much i have gained in less than a week.

Could that drug cause water retention? Ten pound weight gain in one week from food sounds impossible! Unless you were in a pie eating contest.......were you? That would explain a lot.

no it is not from eating.

That is a lot of weight Leigh. I would contact your doc right away. If you don't get a response from your doc today I would talk to a pharmacist to see if you should quit taking it in the meantime.

I was on 15mg to start with and then went to 7.5's

The website says to contact your doctor immediately. (I have copied the page for you)

We all think you should get it checked out. I'm glad you stopped taking it but also pray that your pains don't worsen.

I called the specialist and his nurse said "oh, I guess if you dont want the weight gain stop taking it". wow. Thanks. Nobody even asked me if I have any swelling or pain etc-which by the way began yesterday. Great. They put me on it after being pain free for 3 weeks and now that I have taken myself off of it I am hurting. The pain is mostly in my feet on both sides. Seeing as this seems concerning to me I called my family doc and am going there this afternoon.

It sounds like water retention. If it only for pain then defenitely stop taking it and seek doctors advise ASAP!
