This is a question for the ladies out there. Did anyone else have MATERNAL HELLPS SYNDROME when you were pregnant? I am just curious because this is also a disorder or syndrome where your body attacks itself. The medical field says that there is no correlation between this and WG but I am not sure I am convinced. I am curious if anyone else experienced this? Thank you!

I had all of my children before I was diagnosed with WG - my pregnancies were all problem free.

I had to edit this because I pulled out my notebook and found what I had. It was intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and not HELLP. Similar with the liver enzymes being off but very different cause. I had my gigantic baby induced at 37 weeks due to his size and the ICP, which got better right away. My son was 8 lbs born 3 weeks early, and now at 25 months old, is almost as tall as my nearly-4 year old and weighs the same thing.

I have dogs. They don't attack me, though. :biggrin1:

LOL Thanks, but if you saw me in real life struggling for words, having sentences come out in complete gibberish and/or looking totally confused when being given simple instructions you might think again!

I had a pretty smooth pregnancy but I did develop Wegners soon about 7 months after having my first child once I stopped breast feeding. One of my many wonders was did pregnancy some how set this off?

Oh my - I thought this was just me! I was trying to read a book to my son the other night and the words kept coming out wrong. Hubby said it is just from swelling from the pred, but holy cow, I thought I was going crazy!

I have a hard time with that too ArlaMo. Sometimes I feel as if I stutter or can't find the right word to say. And even when reading it seems different. Can hardly wait to get to a low dose of pred like 10mg again.

I feel like I'm stuttering too! I start to say one thing, and it's like my brain catches up & tells me it's the wrong word, then I change words mid sentence. I feel like I sound like a moron! And no one knows it's because sick & taking drugs. I thought it was the mtx messing with my brain.......you think it's the pred??

I've never been on mtx and I've been off the ctx for about a month now. Still on the pred :glare: And it seemed to get a lot worse right after I had the solumedrol IV with my rtx infusion. My whole face feels weird and out of whack.

I'll bet it's the pred. I have nothing like that with mtx.
