I'm on vacation in Florida this week and wearing shorts for the first time in several months. I noticed what looks like vericose veins on my left leg. Is this maybe wegs related? Being vasculitis I thought maybe...or I'm just getting old :)

Lol. I have had them since I was 16. I am just lucky that way. I have been wondering the same thing lately though. They are quite ugly aren't they? I also wonder if the " growing pains" in my knees when I was 10 were early wg. Also, I think back to my first two years of university where I could not stay awake for a bus ride to school or during a lecture was wg. Vericose veins have kept me from wearing shorts since i was a teenager.

I've had a bunch of tiny ones appear around my ankles in the past year. I have no idea if it is related, but I didn't have them before.

I've had bad varicose veins since my early 20's too. My inner ankles have so many of the little ones that when anyone sees them (doctors included) they get pretty startled. In holistic medicine, varicosities are a sign of certain nutrient deficiencies and/or liver congestion. The liver wouldn't necessarily be diseased or show trouble at a clinical level (ie, liver enzymes in blood work would still be normal). Migraines are also linked to a congested liver and I've had those my whole life, too.

Haha. As soon as I read Sangye's post, I thought "NO, not the liver! No more fuel for Deloris' fire!"

no more liver talk please......WG is bad enough in the areas it normally resides in...:wink1:....on the topic of spider veins or vericose ones...i have never had them til i got diagnosis with WG...and they are tiny ulgy purple spider veins on my ankles more on my left tahn right and at times more noticable than others...so I just assumed it is part of WG ...kinda like a tatoo or stamp saying "I m Here to stay so deal with it"....I still wear shorts...I have decided not to cover them ...I have enough trouble covering my buddha belly..lol:flapper:

well, I have not only wg and asthma but also alpha1 antitrypsin defficiency-that can lead to liver disease. At my last appointment with the specialist the resident asked me about my nails as they are indicative of liver disease. After I saw him I saw the pulmanologist who mentioned that alpha1 can lead to liver disease but I am ok for now because I have no symptoms. I said nothing and have been haveing a mild freak out since. the mention of the little veins that sange brought up have added to this as I have those now and did not last year-not sure of how new they are as I dont check. I am an insainly private person and have felt the need to talk to people here due to my recent jump out of remmission. so....i dont want to join an alpha1 board to discuss this matter. besides I went back and read all of marta's posts and blogs-took a while :) and she speaks of liver issues often. It is very confusing for me to distinguish between alpha1, wg asthma and the common cold. I will try to work on my paranoid tendancies.:0

ha ha thanks...i really probably need mental help. I suppose if i could just learn to speak up at the doctors office i then i would not freak out between appointments.

I don't think you need mental help! The ambiguous symptoms we have, that make it hard to distinguish between wegs and a common cold, are hard enough to deal with. I don't know how I'd cope if I had a second or third condition lurking around in my body. I've become a hypochondriac too - over thinking every little blip, and making myself crazy. Hmmmmm, maybe I could use mental help

But, I will second you notion that you should speak up more at the doctors office.

I have been in remmission for so many year that i just dont remember AND it is presenting itself a little differently this time, well except for the roving pains. My main specialist thinks I am just a really strong girl. That used to be true but not so much anymore. Now i am just quiet.

I'm glad that you're speaking here. It helps SOOO much!
HA HA, we should have a private chat some time.......we seem to be hopping between threads talking to each other here........

I think you are right...then I can hide my new pycosis from the rest of the people here. lol. plus, i do check my home page everyday for private messages or board messages and never have any. Mind you the way I come off I probably scare most people.
