Dumb question maybe?
Why is a rheumotoligist the recommended type of Dr? If I am seeking a diagnosis...wouldnt an Internest or blood dr be better?

Rheumatologists specialize in autoimmune diseases. AI diseases are notoriously difficult to diagnose (and treat). Good internists acknowledge that and will not hesitate to send you to a rheumy. A blood dr is a hematologist. They specialize in blood disorders (eg pernicious anemia, leukemia) and are usually oncologists as well.

Although in the UK a lot of Nephrologists are specialists in the disease due to its affect on the kidneys. The team who developed the BVAS diagnostic system had several Nephrologists in it.

I would definitely go with a rheumy (a rheumy diagnosed me), only because you aren't completely sure of what you have, but what you have is most likely an autoimmune disease.

However, the trick is to fine one who has more than just a caseload or RA or lupus patients, because they won't be anymore knowledgeable about WG than an internist.

well...only a first step but I have an apt with a DO Rheumitologist in my town in 3 weeks. Sooner if my ENT calls to rush the apt. Im discouraged by my neg c anca. I know its not difinitive but it was the link that would make them lean more towards WG and PUSH for something. Once again Im a patient with general complaints and no medical tests to back them up.
