I think my son may be having a flare. HIs last unine test came back with occult blood +3, white blood cells - many, and bacteria - some. He has an appointment with the kidney doctor next week. The nose bleed which had completley stopped are back - two in the last week. He has had a cold but its better. He says he feels fine. He looks great. SCARED!!!!!

When was his latest bloodwork and how did it look? When can he see his Wegs doc again? Is his appt with the kidney doc a regularly scheduled one? I think you should push for a sooner date.

If it is a flare, it's important to catch it as soon as possible. That can allow for milder drugs and lower dosages.

Even if you have to wait a week to see a doctor, is it possible to get bloods done now so that he has something to look at? At my own clinic, they will take bloods at any time I ask.

I can say I know exactly how you feel. The waiting & worrying & not knowing if your child is all right is the worst thing in the world. But sounds like you have expert doctors that are taking care of him & you are very diligent knowing what to look for. Motherly instinct is a powerful thing! Saying a prayer for you!

his blood work was done 2 weeks ago and it was fine. Its the urinalysis that has his specialist concerned. The appointment with the kidney doctor is a first appointment to check his functions. Its the nose bleeds that really have me concerned. Thats how all this started. I'll keep yall updated.

Is he doing anything that would make his nose bleed such as picking it or blowing it too hard? I used to have terrible nose troubles, but since treatment for Wegs I have not been too bad at all. However, I do have to look after my nose and can easily make it bleed if I am not careful with it. If he does have crusting or congestion problems, nasal flushing is the gentle way to remove it.

One thing my daughter likes is the Nasal Rinse. She hated the Netipot because it made her feel like she was drowning but she likes the way the Nasal Rinse makes her sinuses feel clear & moist. She does the rinse in the morning before school & at night before she goes to bed.

His nose bleed started when he sneezed. He won't use any of the rinses. The most I can get him to do is the nasal gel.

i dont like, well i didnt used to like putting anything up my nose....look at me now. Sinus rinse and Ghee.

You really need to encourage him to do it. some sort of incentive. cos the benefits really are clear to sniff. keep him clean and moist

Don't they fax or send results to treating doctor and he or she should look at them and get back to you right away if urgent or more prompt response is required. The anxiety of not knowing and waiting is not pleasant worth hassling the medical providers a little to get some peace of mind.
