So I just had my bronch this morning...And honestly im really PISSED cuz they didn't tell me nothing...they said they'd give me a follow up appointment in a week or two...like is this normal?!?!? Shouldn't I be notified like right away or atleast within 48 hours? I mean the doctor who did the bronch is a lung specialist and he probably knows what is going on within my body but i dont understand why he's being so sleezy. One more thing..is it normal to be awake during the whole bronch procedure?..Like my throat and everything was numb but i was awake through the whole thing.

I never had a bronch, but I know there is someone out there who could answer your question. Who ordered the Bronch? If it was the Rheumatologist then you need to call the office and ask about the results.

I had a Bronch, but did not remember anything about it and was given the results as soon as I was able to take them in.

It's not normal to be fully awake during the procedure. I was and they had to give me more sedative. I remember it clearly....

They usually come talk to you as soon as you come out of the anaesthetic and tell you the results. I suggest you call the pulmonologist's office and ask to speak to him/her on the phone before the appt.

My broncho was also horrid...you are suppose to be twighted but i was awake and did get my result immediately...but i was also so stenosised in my trach that they had a hard time shoving it down to my broncho and still only got a wash done...no biopsy...so call your doc and get some answers...the visual is the only result they can give you ...the lab results take time....sorry you had such a bad experience

I agree - when I had my bronch I was awake and could not figure out how to communicate that... Bad experience... The Pulmonologist should tell you what he saw... Like LisaMarie stated above - it will take at least three days for results if local test and may be longer if sent out... but the doc can also tell you whne to expect results.. Sorry for the bad experience.... :(

i hope i find out soon..i hate the health care system sometimes but at the same time i can't really hate cuz my situation could be far worse..but i just hope the results are good and im switched to azathioprin :(

thanks for the support guys appreciate it..hope whatever you guys are going through gets treated asap and you guys are feeling much better ..Keep ya head up :D

you need to see what medication they gave you for sedation - you might have had a drug reaction to it... Shivering uncontrollably without a temp is not a good sign. There are some senisitivities to sedation meds that can cause the temperature to rise quickly and dangerously... Tell your pulmonologist your concerns and experience following the bronch... please...

I agree with Nancy. I second that you need to let your pulmonologist know and Rhuemy.

My dad called them soon as the shivering started...They said it was a common thing but they said if it continues later on the night than call again..But it stopped within a hour so yeah..

My Bronch went pretty smooth. I was awake the whole time. What I hated was the lavage treatment. Felt like drowning. Really shouldn't have to remember that sensation. I got my results a few days later from my pulmo. Very prompt and thorough. I've found you just have to be very forward with these doctors and SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE! I get copies of as many results as I can. Remember that these doctors are with you for the duration of the disease. They work for you.

I was awake for the lavage, too. It actually is drowning. Terrifying sensation.

Iunno..these doctors are pissin me off..still no thorough answer on my bronch...I have an appointment this friday so they said they'd tell me than..They said either way i'd be switched off cyclo to either rituximab or azathioprine...

I've been on aza b4 and didnt experience any side effects..it was normal drug..wudnt mind being on it again..but rituximab he says its a 8 hour IV which happens everyweek :/...
Anyone on ritux? and are there any serious side effects ...im starting school in sept so i don't want it giving me side effects tht'll drain me to the point im in my bed..or make me vomit constantly to the point i just wanna rest...

There are quite a few people on this forum who are on RTX . Some of them get very tired after the infusion, but everyone is different. Are you going full time to school?

Yes i am going fulltime...
Is it a lot of fatigue/nausea or just for a day or two?!?!

It really varies with rtx. Some people say they don't notice anything. They just go right back to work or school the next day. I get extremely weak after each infusion and it gets worse each week. Both times I did rtx (4 infusions each) I was unable to function for 6 weeks from the time of the first infusion. I didn't get any nausea though.

Most importantly, your docs aren't making sense. They shouldn't be choosing between rtx and imuran/aza. Rtx is for highly active Wegs and imuran is for controlled Wegs.

Yeah..i understand

My weg isn't really that active in my opinion...I dont cough blood all day long..and blood has stopped recently in my mouth..and in my nose...slowly..but even when it was coming actively it was only in the morning and just in the morning...I might try to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion..I dont wanna go on RTX and regret it later on...its best i make a decision thoroughly.

Hi ball, sorry you had a rough bronch. I am one of those who Rituxan was almost like nothing happened. I was scared to death the first time I took it, and I was extremely ill. Then I drove home.
My doctors are very lax about giving me results too but in recent years I found a way around that problem. Where I go everything is computerized. So when I see the doc the write up they do on me goes into the computer. Any tests go into the computer. So, I go to the records office at the clinic and ask for copies of my records . If I saw the doc in August I just ask for all my records from August. They don't charge for it and I get copies of everything they did, xrays, blood tests etc. Also I get see what they put in my chart about any visits.
