How To Insert Pictures Into a Post

You will need to sign up to an image hosting site such as Photobucket (free) and you may also need access to a means of resizing your pictures. I use the resizer from Microsoft which adds the function to your mouse's right click.

Once you have set the size of your image ("Small" is the setting I use), upload it to the image hosting site.

Click or hover over the image on the site and you will see a number of slightly different names assigned to it. The one you want is "Direct Link". Right click and copy it.

Open up the message input window on the Forum and click on the "Insert Image" box shown here -




This will bring up an input box like this -




Paste the "Direct Link" information for your image into the box and hit "OK".

You image should now appear as part of your post.

I can't complain about poor instructions, eh!? Did I read you are a retired engineer? These instructions certainly have that precision and specificity I would expect from one.

I think I will attempt to create one from scrap instead of using stuff I find on the Internet. Or maybe I'll use one showing a Nebraska scene of historic interest. I"m a life member of the Nebraska State Historical Society, too, so it works for me. Perhaps I should try to attach it here, using you instructions instead! I did sign up for Photobucket. I will attempt to attach the one image I released to Photobucket archives for anyone to use or abuse, per proclivities. The image, too, I had made into yet another coffee mug (beaker) and personal US postage stamps, a service I hadn't tried up till today.

The "RockBunny" image I posted is VERY small and pixelated so it may not be a good subject for enlargement to something mug sized.

Speaking of quirky, this is the most famous photo taken in Box Butte County. Thanks to Jack's excellent instructions, I did everything but get the dimensions right.

For certain! The place I ordered the mug noted that, too. On the other hand, I was aware of that from some resizing I did prior to ordering. Aesthetically, it worked for me. The band name will come out fine, and the bunny will have a quirky quality, you might even say pixilated! I did print it out to mug size, and I was comfortable with it. The guitar is just about too pixilated to be recognizable.

Now that I'm retired, I'm having to learn how to be my own information technology guy. It is a side benefit that I sometimes run into people who take pity on me and share something they know. That is a bit like what we do for matters of WG, though without the pity.
