Yikes, glad they finally figured out it was Wegs. Be careful with your diet as much as possible, especially limiting salt and sugar. Pred puts on fat while it wastes muscle. It also adds fat to areas where you might not normally have it. It changes your metabolism so that even when you go off it you might have greater difficulty losing the weight than normal.

    Thanks guys

Putting on the extra weigh has been a bit of a shock - I put about two stone (~30 pounds) back on in about two weeks! It's weight that I needed to put back on though, as I was a bit too skinny when it came off. I just need some energy back now so that I can go to the gym and turn it into muscle.

    Great, more good news then!

Never mind, I'm staying positive. I know I'm going to have flare ups, especially this soon after diagnosis while everything is still being figured out, so there's no point in letting it get me down. I've decided that this weekend is going to be a good weekend, so I've been out for my friend's birthday and to watch a band, and had a great time. It's been my first 'weekend off' since Xmas, so I'll probably suffer for it, but it was worth it

I shared what I wish someone had told me when I first went on pred. Keep your chin(s) up.

Welcome Ryan - glad you are on the mend now. So sorry to hear about the awful time you've been through though.

    See you at the meet!

How many WGs or GPA people are in this area? Do you have a formal Vasculitis Chapter or are you going to start one?

I don't know the answer to either question at the moment. My girlfriend's been in touch with about a dozen weggies in the area, but there may be more, and I have no idea at all about where it's all going to go. I think we're just going to meet up first and find out what everyone wants to do
