Average dose of MTX

My doc told me no longer that 3 months for ctx unless absolutely neccessary.

Well, what's done is done now, all I can do is move forward.

Wow, 250mg of Cytoxan? I can't imagine that. I was at 150mg at my max dose and that was pretty tough to get through.

I was started on 15 mg MTX weekly (tapering pred from 60 to 0) , was on it for about a year and I flared, March of 2011. Increased my MTX to 20 mg MTX did 4 Rituxan in May and started 20 mg Pred.

Now just on 20 MTX, hoping I don't flare.

I read that the maintenance dose for MTX is around 18 - 20 mg weekly for WG.

I have been on Cytoxan since October and they say I should plan on 1 year, and I only have lung involvement (both lungs). I will have my first post Cytoxan CT scan at the end of March. Not sure what my next drug of choice will be but are most of the maintenance drugs taken orally?

Hope, they should not automatically be keeping you on ctx for a year. That is outdated thinking. Ctx should induce remission within 6 months. If it doesn't, it might not be the right drug for you.

Ctx any longer than 3 months is quite dangerous and wreckless.

Phil is right. The comments I heard (almost two years ago now at the VF forum) was ctx no more than three months and then stepping into AZA, MTX or cellcept. Increasingly docs are using rtx as well.

I was on ctx for almost two years starting 1979. Things change. I developed a bleeding bladder. No one told me to drink extra water - at least not that I remember.
