Default Joint pains and how to cope?

I suffer from quite bad joint pain and it gets a lot worse when it is cold, so I know staying warm is essential but what else can I do to relieve some of the pain and speed up the "process" so the joint pains go away?

I currently only take diclofenac for the joint pains and it does help a bit but not completely. Also the joint pain likes to move around a lot... Usually I have it in my hands/wrists, ankles/knees but sometimes, like now, it is in my shoulder. (as well as hand/wrist) Sometimes it gets so bad I can barely go to the toilet on my own, it is so embarrasing and frustrating.

Anyway, does anyone else suffer from bad joint pains and if so, how do you cope?

It's been a few weeks now that I suffer from almost unbearable shoulder pain.
I cannot sleep because of it.
There have been made x-rays. The radiologist thought I had 'tendinitis calcarea', that is inflammation of the tendons.
My GP sent me to another doctor, an ortoptist (don't know if I spell this right - I mean a docor with knowledge of bones and joints).
This doctor sent me back to the fysiotherapist for treatment.
I take paracetamol (acetaminophen in USA) for the pain, because otherwise I can't go through the day, nor sleep at night.

    Hold on, Malin!
Maybe you can visit your doctor again?

    Hi Malin,

Are you flaring? I had joint pain as you are describing when I was initially diagnosed and when I subsequently flared but as soon as we got it under control the pain has all but gone. There is no way I could live with the pain I had - it was so bad that at times I could not walk. The only pain relief I took was paracetamol in the early days of treatment but have taken nothing since.

I don't think I'm flaring as such, I have just come out from a big flare so its more a Wegs smoulder going on I think.
I never had joint pain before Wegs but now, I find I get it almost every winter when I get cold, doesn't matter if I'm flaring or not
The pain is bad but it's also very tough mentally, I know age doesn't matter but I feel so helpless and crappy sometimes feeling like a 90 year old when I'm only 23 :/

    Hi Malin,

so sorry to hear about the joint pain. It was the main symptom I experienced before DX; however; I havent had a recurence sinc emy initial hospitilisation. Are you sure you are not flaring again? are you lined up for some bloods? I know what you mean about the cold weather tho, it doesnt help the circulation at all!! Hope you feel better soon.

(Leigh, I love that you put a quote from Jack in your signature! I'm really missing him these days. Washing my dishes this morning I wanted to cry, remembering a thread about how Brits don't rinse the soap off their dishes, and how Jack replied to it.)

I remember Jack said that, when I wrote I had been eating WAY to much cookies.
It was in the summer of 2010, a few weeks after I heard I got Wegeners'.
    I also remember Elephant's remark....

Yes, it's on the tippity top of the food guide pyramid!
    That also made me smile...

Jack had a nice, British sense of humour. Kind of 'cool', I think.
I can understand that people miss him.
I even do, though I did'nt know him as long as many others on this forum.
It's good to remember him. His humour lifted spirits up, and apparently still does.

That would be nice for his daughters to know...
Anybody still in contact with Jacks family? Sangye, maybe?
