Default Off to play with rats tomorrow

I've been reading everything I can on the Rituximab since I will hopefully be getting it the next couple of weeks or so and came upon the fact the monoclonal antibody is produced both in rats and mice. This worries me a bit due to the fact that having worked in animal research for 18 years I did have a slight allergy to the rats, hands would break out and become very itchy if they scratched me. It's been about 10 years since I've handled rats so my plan is to go to the pet shop, walk around with one in my hand and see what happens. Just sharing, I know I have to tell the doc, but I'm scared it may make a difference in the treatment if I am indeed still sparking a reaction. Anyone else have this dilema?

You gotta tell your doctor. That can be deadly.

I'm not allergic to rats or mice, but it is heartbreaking to me to know that the only drug I can take-- rtx-- results in their deaths. It haunts me.

I've had Rats and mice as pets and they are lovely creatures.

Good luck with your treatment elaphe56
