Another flare???

I came home today to find John on the couch (normal scenario) but different. I could tell by looking at him that he didnt feel good (worse then normal). He said his stomach had been bothering him (nothing new) but that his testicles were hurting again (that went away weeks ago ). Then I looked at his feet....the WG rash is back! He hansr had that since the first week of June. Then I looked at the bottom of his toes...bruised! I asked what happened and he said that he hit it on the bed but not hard. They are horrible black and blue. I called his specialist and he is already scheduled to be admitted tomorrow for his rituxan infusion. They said to still come in the morning because tonight he would just stay in ER plus he doesn't feel "sick". But said they will probably keep him. Could this be the same flare or a new one? This disease sucks!

I'm not sure he's ever really been out of flair mode from what you've said. Until it is officially controlled I think it can come and go a bit (at least that's my take in my experience). I hope that the RTX will help him quickly.

The dr just said yesterday "His disease has quieted now" that was the rhuemy. I thought he was just so exhausted from the long car ride yesterday and all the walking he had to do with the dr visits. But honestly the rash made my stomach turn. That is just a reminder of his critical days.

It's hard to tell, Stephanie. For me the rash means very active Wegs. I don't know if that's true for everyone. I hope he's going to see the doctor tomorrow when he goes in.

It took me two and a half years on cytoxan to stop flairing. A rash was always a hint that my progress had taken a step back. He is in good hands now so it should be ok

That's what I'm worried about (a step back).
Sangye, I do know he will be seeing Dr Falk at some point tomorrow. He told us that he would be checking in on him during the infusion.

in my experience getting to remission with wegners included a series of step backs. I did stay there for quite a while though. good luck today.

I would agree that progress is very uneven and my GPA and other symptoms seem to be a roller coaster with lots of ups and down (various levels of being active ranging from very severe to rather mild) before I reached a state where they felt I had attained a drug induced remission. But shortly after that I had a flare where it became more active (mild to moderate) again and other things also happened along the way (usually infections) that required additional medical treatment. I think for many of us this is probably the norm which is why we are such great supporters of the medical industry.
