    Default help me please

My husband is getting worse today. Horrible breakout on fave and neck, bloodshot eyes, ears ringing. Still no BM. Do any of you know any specialist near Wilmington NC that I can call? Someone without a referral. Even his rheumy here is saying its not his WG. I'm so frustrated and desperate.

You do need answers right away and your local Rheumy just seems like a dud. I only know of one Wegs specialist in NC and that is Nancy Allen at Duke University. Her number is 919-684-2965.

Stephanie - does your rheumy say why he/she does not think it is WG?

He says that diverticulitis is not related to WG.

Phil, I called that number and they are closed for memorial day. At this time I'm very impatient. SO...I called John Hopkins. A rheumy called me back within 5 minutes. She said that a doctor should assume EVERYTHING is associated with the disease. She was so enlightening. She told me to have him do Milk of Magnesium (which the dr here said not to) she gave me a ton of ideas for natural laxatives (fruit and juice ideas) she said the enema would not work because they are only for the lower bowls NOT impacted poop)
She stated that she would have never let him leave the hospital until be had a BM! So.....she is going to try to get us in sooner with her at JH. Until then she said she can't prescribe him med but she can help direct me on what to tell NOT ask his dr here for.
    Here's hoping the Magnesium works!

Glad you called and got some answers and good advice. It sounds like it will also help you get in sooner. Would or could they see you at ER if you went there now?

I actually asked that and she said since there has been a positive dx that they need all records from his ent here (since he did the biopsy) that was my intention, I was going to drive the 6-8 hrs to take him to the ER. He can't fly due to his ears. He has 2 ruptured ear drums Right now!

That is good news Stephanie. It sounds like that Rheumy is good and may be a Wegs specialist herself.

Wow, so glad you got in touch with a JHU doctor. My first thought was the same-- you have to assume it's Wegs. I'm really glad she could help with the bm issue. He could have ruptured the colon if he continued to follow the local doctors' lousy advice. Poor guy. I bet he's really having a hard time emotionally right now. Tell him to hang in there--help is on the way-- and that we are all rooting for him.

What about Exlax x strength works alot bettter on me than MIlk of Magnesium. But I don't have Wegs so don't take my word. Where do you live that the ER is so far. Poor thing.

So glad the doctor called you back from JHU. One day at a time. Hate it when a doctor totally rules out stuff without really knowing or even researching his symptoms. It is obvious he doesn't have a clue and most likely goolged it. Hang in there, glad your so persistant.
